The tendency of human mind is to hover on the expectations, on the things you want from others , what wrong others have done unto you, what promises are not fulfilled by others , and this is an endless list of the expectations you have from others. This leads you into unjustified wants and lust for things which righteously do not belong to you. When you are unable to get the possession of these things you feel angry and this ultimately leads to frustration. Most of the violence in our society is because of this lust to acquire things which do not belong to us. On the contrary when you focus on your duty you shift our attention towards your own actions and the obligations you are supposed to meet. This shift in attention not only relieves you of the undue stress created by the misguided desire to acquire the possessions rightfully belonging to others. The energy thus saved can be channelized towards accomplishment of higher order goals for uplifting the self along with the people associated with you.
A Brighter and Better Future
Consider the mental state of any person marked with the conditioning of snatching away from others their rightful belongings and if not physically snatching away , at best always contemplating ,planning the act and of going through the imaginary experience of the false pleasure of acquiring and using those objects for personal sense gratification, the comfort here at least could be that nobody except the person imagining would know about it, but the damage is no less serious than a situation where this is done at a gross physically real level. This is so because your mind is not designed to differentiate between the imaginary and real impressions, and for the mind, imaginary impressions are as real as the real impressions. Thus you face the same cyclical tribulation of unrighteous desire, resulting in stress leading to frustration, thereby either causing you to commit an act that can bring a lot of misfortune to you or always keep craving for owning the righteous possessions of others, leading towards even greater anxiety and stress levels, always looking for an opportunity to go for the unrighteous possession of others’ property.
On the other hand is the self corrected person standing tall on his righteous feet, focusing on his duty to gain the strength of having the commanding force of eternal natural truths on his side leading towards greater peace, inner harmony and a progressive growth trajectory, capable of going higher into the space, setting up new landmarks of success and humility, free from all encumbrances’ which if present are generally accompanied by a heavy heart and the possessions characteristic of indulging incorrect living.
