Gaining Awareness of Our Power Disability Quotient (PDQ) and Minimizing It

Destiny Is Shaped by Our Decisions and Actions
Every now and then, life takes us through a turbulent journey. Sometimes we feel totally helpless, looking for supportive hands around us while at other times we seem to be having a lot of power and others around us seem to have much less power, leading to the role reversal.

Despite our best intentions we do not succeed at keeping our behavior consistent with our values, we tend to get swayed by the situation and fail to keep our commitments, to ourselves, because we are unclear about our destiny, whatever comes in our way we pick it up thinking itto be the right opportunity for us totally unaware of the fact that we are masters of our destiny because it is consistently shaped by the decisions and actions we take.

The Struggle to Be OurReal Self
So what is the guiding light for us to keep us on the right track? What are the critical parameters to decide the right path for us in any given situation? The answer is simple but inconsistent with our material outlook, seeming impracticable, as this tears us between our struggle to be our real self and the chase of attractive materialistic glitter distracting us from the correct path towards our destiny. This in fact has a lot to do with the pressing, unregulated, needs &desires experienced by us.

Checklist to Monitor Our Power Disability Quotient
Let's quickly glance through this checklist to see if power is corrupting us, by answering these simple questions.

Will the action we take under the influence of power,
1.     Be a hindrance to the freedom of the human spirit, with respect to the people getting affected by our decision?
2.     Not be the most appropriate use of your most scarce resource, the time, available to address the key priority areas?
3.     Be resulting in a self fulfilling prophecy, far drawn from the ground reality at the grass root level?
4.     Be creating friction in the existing system, by unintentionally building resistance towards innovation & best practices, contrary to the healthy objective of inclusive development & growth?
5.     Be causing energy dissipation, in trivial & unwanted skirmishes for all involved, at the cost of the key deliverables?
If the answer to any one or more of these questions is in the affirmative, then we may draw the inference that the power is beginning to corrupt us. The intensity of corruption is inferred as increasing with incremental number of affirmative answers.

Keeping ourselves focused on preventing the power from corrupting us is the ideal way to progress towards our destiny by gaining awareness of our Power Disability Quotient (PDQ) and minimizing it.

God Bless
