Goal Setting for Achieving Happiness & Fulfillment

The Perpetual Complaint; Every now and then we come across people, who complain about not being able to achieve their goals. And if we are able to achieve our goal then very often it is at a very big cost to us, which we realize only once a lot of water has flown under the bridge.  Sometimes we ourselves have the same complaint. But the people, including us, who have this perpetual complaint, must understand the complete truth behind the mechanism of goal setting and goal achievement.

Two Interrelated Concepts Regarding Goals; while setting our goals we need to understand that a goal is something worthwhile we want to achieve and to achieve a goal we must engage in action that would make us achieve it.  We can see clearly that there are two interrelated concepts , the first concept relates to taking  a decision regarding something worthwhile, called a goal, which we want to achieve and the second concept relates to the action we take for achieving that goal

Preempting Great Possibility of Falling Prey to the Wish-List; Another important aspect to be understood here is whether we need to choose any arbitrary goal first and then qualify it to meet the criteria of being something worthwhile we want to achieve or we first deliberate over worthwhile things we want to achieve and then we choose the most appropriate one as our goal. Let's understand that the former style of goal setting needs us to have very strong intuition for us to choose the right goal and there is a big possibility of us taking an incorrect decision by mistaking influence of fad or deep rooted craving for our long suppressed passions & unfulfilled wishes for a goal. Thus, there is a greatpossibility of falling prey to the wish-list, which may contain both desirable & undesirable wishes, and we may end up with an undesirable wish as our goal. Therefore it is strongly recommended that we choose our goal through the latter style.
Now having understood the difference between a goal and a wish, before we get started with the process of setting our goal, we need to answer these three questions
1.     Is the goal that I am choosing, a desirable goal?
2.     Can I accurately ascertain the price I need to pay for achieving this goal?
3.     Do I really want to, pay the ascertained price and, achieve this goal?

Keys to Happiness & Fulfillment- Closer Look at these Questions; Is the goal that I am choosing, a desirable goal?
Please note the characteristics of a desirable goal
·        Its fulfillment would be beneficial to all
·        It would not cause any pain to any one
·        It is in conformity to universal eternal truths
Can I accurately ascertain the price to be paid for its achievement?
The price includes
·        The sustained effort & unflinching sincerity
·        Opportunity cost for achieving it
·        Correct living in conformity with the universal eternal truths
Do I really want to, pay the ascertained price and, achieve this goal?
this analysis relates to
·        The price justification
·        The value attached to the accomplishment of the goal
·    The values , talents , purpose ,mental makeup & personality attributes, which vary with different people

If the answer to all the three questions is yes, then we have chosen a goal, which  would unleash happiness & bliss for everyone, directly or indirectly, involved in its accomplishment.

God Bless
